The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav, the celebrated #1 New York Times bestseller, celebrating 25 years since it was first published, has sold millions of copies and is published in twenty-four languages.
Gary Zukav is a graduate of Harvard University and a former US Army Special Forces (Green Beret) officer with Vietnam service. He lives in Oregon with his spiritual partner, Linda Francis.
The Seat of the Soul is an important and profound book. It has been my most cherished book for many years. It has guided me through a broken marriage, betrayal by the people I loved most, many dark nights of the soul, sadness, grief, confusion and everything else life has thrown at me.
The Seat of the Soul is my ‘go to’ book for every spiritual question or emergency. It is my spiritual bible and never fails to shine a light on my path to guide me back to wholeness.
The many insightful topics includes chapters on Relationships, Addiction, Soul, Intuition, Power, Illusion, Choice and Trust.
Zukav effectively communicates his insights with astounding clarity and deep sincerity.
From the chapter on Intention, Zukav explores soul lessons we must learn to balance it’s energy:
‘What is not learned in each lifetime is carried over into other lifetimes, along with new lessons that arise for the soul to learn, new karmic obligations that result from the responses of its personality to the situation it encounters.’
‘Your disposition, attitudes, and attitudes reflect your intentions. If you are angry, fearful, resentful, or vengeful, your intention is to keep people at a distance. The human emotional spectrum can be broken down into two basic elements: love or fear. Anger, resentment and vengefulness are expressions of fear, as are guilt, regret, embarrassment, shame, and sorrow. These are low frequency currents of energy. They produce feelings of depletion, weakness, inability to cope and exhaustion. The highest frequency current, the highest energy current, is love. It produces buoyancy, radiance, lightness and joy.’
The following paragraph from the chapter on Trust was important to me during difficult times:
‘Try looking at life as a beautifully well-organised dynamic. Trust the Universe. Trusting means that the circumstances that you find yourself in is working toward your best and most appropriate end. There is no when to that. There is no if to that. It is. Release your specifications and say to the Universe: “Find me where you know I need to be.” Let them go and trust the Universe will provide, and so it shall. Let go of all. Let your higher self complete its task’
This is one of the paragraphs that helped gain perspective during the end of my marriage. I underlined and re-read this passage everyday as a reminder. It kept me sane and kept me from giving in to my fears.
Thirteen years ago when I was at my lowest, with two children under five. I contemplated my future as a sole parent and despite all the difficulties associated with ending a marriage, I did it with the help of this book.
This same book has come to my rescue many times since.
To say that it transformed my life is an understatement. Over the years I have recommended this book to numerous friends, clients and relatives and will continue to do so.
The book explores numerous ideas on the topic of living from your truth, empowerment, and trust but also so much more.
This book was first published in 1989 and remains relevant today perhaps even more relevant than when it was first published. Without a doubt I highly recommend this book.
This book is recommended for anyone seeking spiritual evolution.
